Changes at the Faculty of Archaeology

The new Higher Education Act has brought about numerous organizational changes also in the field of archaeology. A new Faculty of Archaeology has been established, formed by the transformation of the former Institute of Archaeology. In this situation it has become necessary to make organisational changes resulting in the creation of new Departments. We are pleased to inform you that the Centre’s Director, Prof. Piotr Dyczek, has been appointed head of the new Chair of Classical Archaeology. The Chair’s task will be to restore the long and successful tradition of classical archaeology at the University of Warsaw. At the same time P. Dyczek has been elected chairman of the Commission for PhD theses in the field of Mediterranean archaeology at the Warsaw University.
