From the 9th to the 11th of December, the kick-off meeting for the “Living Forever the Past through a 3Digital World” project took place, as part of the Digital 2023 Cloud Data programme.
The project aims to experiment with a variety of tools, technologies, and practices to create a virtual world in the field of cultural heritage, with a particular focus on archaeological sites. By digitally reconstructing the ancient appearance and splendour of places and regions, the project seeks to “bring to life” the daily experiences of this heritage using advanced technologies. Users will have the opportunity to explore digitally recreated structures, hear the sounds of daily life as they were in ancient times, experience spaces, and “travel” through the images and stories derived from historical sources.
The numerous possibilities for participatory digital dissemination of archaeological contexts will not only enhance the value of the sites themselves but also provide opportunities for in-depth research and engagement for specialists and the wider public alike.
The project’s budget is €2 million.
The project lead is Dr Krzysztof Narloch. Heartfelt congratulations, and as always, we are keeping our fingers crossed for success!
